Is it possible to use ones NCB on many policies on different cars, or just the one?

E.g. 1 person owns two cars, can they use the NCB discount for both with different insurers?

Just the one.

But your insurer may give you a multi car policy which takes it into account if you insure both your cars with them.

Why is this? Seems a bit unfair, surely you have the no claims bonus as a person so it should be used as many times as you want?

what about if you have 2 policies and build up 2 no claims, is it possible to then maintain 2 no claims on the separate policies?

I had at one point 3 cars insured (2 with elephant.co.uk and one with elephant) and I had 2 sets of no claims, but when I went back to one car and did not renew the other 2 polices, they basically said tough luck and let me keep the longest no claims, which i think is 4 years...

Would I have been better to have had the insurace with another compnay to maintain a second no claims?

While we're on insurance, another Q, these folk that change their cars 'all the time' (like less than a year) - say you buy somehting with T+T for 10 months, I already run a car. What's the best way to get insured on it?

I know when some people change their car they just tell the insurance they have chaged the car and transfer the policy over, but surely you could be setting your self up for a major sting if they decide to charge you a lot more?

But if you what's the best way to go about getting insured on various cars through the year, say you buy a new car at auction every couple of months.?

Yes, two sets of NCB.

Depends on the company I guess, most places that insure multiple cars will give you a NCB on each car; I know Admiral do.

Yes you just inform your insurance company you've changed cars and you'll either get a refund or extra charges. And that's why you research the insurance implications prior to swapping your 1.0L Corsa for a BMW M3 ;)

As above

Because insurance companies are vile, contemptuous thieves who go out of their way to rape you for all you're worth and laugh all the way to the bank about it. They don't even do it to make money, they just enjoy watching people suffer.
