I currently have a 1.0L Corsa, its not a bad car but i am looking to upgrade to something better either a 1.4 or 1.6 but my insurance doesn't run out until October. If i buy a new car can i just inform my insurance company that i have changed cars and pay any difference towards the insurance policy, i believe the price of insurance will be a difference of about £300. Also i paid for insurance in one go as it was cheaper than paying monthly.

Yep, you will just pay the difference and they may charge you a small admin fee.

Yes you can

I changed my car 2 months into starting a policy on my Fiesta, I just phoned up and asked the difference then sorted it there and then

It sometimes can be cheaper to cancel your current insurance and get back what you havent used pro-rata and then start a new policy on the new car.
