Insurance question

Hi all

I am selling my car and as such not renewing my insurance policy. Under my policy I could drive our other car fully comp but since I am cancelling that policy that will no longer apply. I am a named driver on my wife's policy but that only extends me 3rd party as far as I am aware. We are going to call her insurer and see what options they have for us but until then I thought I would ask on here what the best option is usually in cases like this?

1 car, 2 drivers who both need fully comp as we each drive the car about the same amount. Bonus would be the ability to drive other cars in at least a 3rd party capacity.

Is it just a case of each of us taking out a policy on the car? Or purely down to the insurer so speak to them and see what they can do?

Thanks for all the info. I'll get my wife to call up her insurer and pose the questions. I would think this is a fairly common scenario so I am probably overthinking it and as you say, already have the appropriate cover!
