Stone,
Hi guys, I've received A letter from my insurer this morning with details of this years cover. Its a full policy and cover note as you would expect, but I haven't agreed a renewal, received a letter or had a phone call about my renewal price.

Is this normal behaviour from an insurer?
the policy is for £896.20 :@
I did a quick comparison quote for £583.23
my old man reckons I've got a 14 day right to cancel is this right?
just need to wait for my wife to get home to make sure she hasn't misplaced any letters for me before i call and make an idiot of myself

the car is a 95 corolla that cost £375 stupid insurance

Admiral did this each time my insurance came up for renewal, had a new policy certificate in it and proof of ncb etc.

If you don't want it phone up and tell them, but might be worth asking if they can beat the other quote you got first.

Some of them have an auto renewal unless you contact them first to stop the renewal but would have thought you would have had a letter beforehand.

Ring them up now, and either cancel or ask the price and accept their cover. Then you might get away with having to pay a cancellation fee as the cover hasn't started yet.

Bell (Admiral) do this every year.

They wanted £1000 for my renewal and I told them where to go. I ended up paying less than half that.

Yes all sorted now thanks guys, called LV they could not match the price
now with Allianz

A 31 year old living in a class B postcode with no claims or convictions should not pay nearly £900 insurance on anything idiota's

I have the same thing. Admiral have e-mailed me telling me that my car insurance renewal will be £983 (for a 1.9 diesel 02 punto) they also included a link to print off my new insurance policy which is due to start on 17/5/2012. I went to a few comparison sites and a few insurance companys that are not on comparison sites and the lowest i found was LV who qouted £685 so is nearly £300 cheaper.

I have spoke to quite a few people i know about insurance prices and everybody i know in my area of Liverpool are insured through LV as they seem to be much cheaper than every other insurance company.

I will be phoning Admiral tomorrow to see if they want to beat the LV price but if not i will cancel my renewal with them and go with LV.

EDIT: I think it would be very useful for a thread to be stickied with everyone posting the price of their car insurance (including location, age, car, NCB) and who they are insured with.
