Sorry for long post...

Hey,

On Friday I was traveling down the country and on the M25 I hit the back of someones (only at about 10mph) now obviously we both pulled over looked at the cars and took each others details.

Now due to the fact I hit him I know that I am at fault, but when we looked at each others cars his car showed no signs of any damage at all about from a few spots of paint had came off his bumper.

The guy in question didnt speak to me at all about how it was going to be dealt instead he seemed all too keen, i'm assuming by the fact there virtually no damage to just shoot off.

I rang him up later that evening about 6/7hrs after the incident to discuss it and he told me he hadnt even looked at his car and cant get it in the garage until today to get it checked out and that he would call me later that night.

I haven't heard anything from him yet and cant get through to him and was just curious as to what would be the best way to deal with it. As I'm quite young so insurance isn't cheap for me in the first place and I will have to pay the excess I would rather just get the bloke to get it checked out and send me a quote and for me to pay for it than lose my NCB and for my insurance to sky-rocket again.

So if any of you can give me any advice as to how is best deal with this situation it's really appreciated! :)

You're always best informing your insurance company to cover your own back.

If he doesn't get in touch then happy days :)

In my experience of such situations within the M25, when a given driver wants to do one asap, chances are he's illegal in some regard or other.

I'd be surprised if you hear from him again tbh.

3 times, I've had people hit my HGV (NOT the other way around!) in the M25 area, 3 times, they did'nt want to exchange details & could'nt wait to get away.

It Must have been my pleasant manners. ;) :p :D

BTW, your post was not that long.

Cheers for the quick replies it's really appreciated as its the first time I've ever hit another car before so not quite sure as to what to do.

What is the best thing to say to my insurers as I don't want them to pursue it and lose my NCB as I'm more than happy to pay for the costs and should I just cease trying to contact him until he contacts me in that case?

It was a long post for me hehe!

Thanks again! :)

No problem.

It would be prudent to call your insurers, to advise them of whats happened, your then in the clear if he acts later.

As I said, I would'nt try to contact him, leave the ball in his court so to speak. :)

Hi again,

The bloke never got back to me but I received a letter from his Insurance company that he is wanting to claim compensation for personal injury. Why do people have to be such t***s, barely touched his car and he was out at a wedding reception that night and I said I would pay in full any costs for the damage to his car.

The human race disgusts me at times.
