Insurance write-off reasons?

That might be due to parts prices, might be due to labour charges or might because because a part isn't available for a month so they have to provide a hire vehicle or some other reason.
None of which is actually an indicator of damage severity...

Very few people are going to be happy to have their car/bike repaired with second hand parts, particularly in the case of a no fault claim.
And yet there's a booming market for such parts... to the extent that certain vehicles (bikes in particular) are very high on the theft lists and/or 'stolen to order' so they can be broken for parts. We even have services that search hundreds of breakers yards to find you the best deal on 2nd hand parts...
I'm sure they're not *happy* about having to fix their vehicle, period, but if they can't afford brand-spanking new OEM parts either, then they're bound to be utterly distraught by their poverty too.... but many many people still do buy second hand parts!
