I lost my phone on Friday night/Saturday morning about 1am. I was coming home from a pub in a cab and i definately had the phone before getting in the cab however when i got up Sat morning i could not find the phone at all and came to the conclusion that it must have slipped out of my pocket.

I immobilised the phone with Orange and made a call to the cab firm to check if they had it. Today I've gone to the police and got a crime number and am filling out a claim form. I saw something about having to report the incident it the police within 24 hours? Now I am a bit over that limit do you think my claim will be accepted? I know my policy is covered for loss however i know insurance company's can be a bit funny about these things.

Is there any clause saying that its exepmt if your drunk or anything?

If not I dont think they can say anything since you got a crime number and everything but not entirely sure

I smashed my phone while drunk and got a replacement. It was not however with Orange.

Check the policy you have. Each insurer is different.

Also google claims for your insurance provider.

Some are real pains when it comes to claims and will try and wriggle out.

The incident can be from the moment you realise you have lost it iirc. The best tip I can give is to give honest, but the minimum information required on a claim.

My friends do this all the time, girl I know did it 3 times in the space of 3 months. They turned her 3rd claim down as they deemed it unacceptable to lose your phone 3 times in the back of a taxi in 3 months.

Wow three times in three months? The worst thing is I have the desire HD but I had recently gone back to factory settings as the audio software was playing up and I didn't set up sense.com. :( Anyway thanks for your replies i've sent off the claim form, fingers cross it gets accepted!

Do you have Orange Care or a seperate policy just for your phone elsewhere?

My insurance is through Phones 4U who use a company called Policy Admin services. I called them up to register my claim on sunday told them a summary of what happened and have sent them a form with further details. Now I just play the waiting game and hopefully they approve.

Phew... my claim has been accepted. :D
