Insurers that accept main driver experience?

Hey guys,

I have been insured as the main driver for over 2 years and had no claims at all, but the policy holder has been my dad (NOT fronting it is DEFINITELY that way around, checked multiple times) as my dad needed to keep his NCB somewhere whilst he didnt have a car (working in manchester, living on the outskirts).

Basically, he needs a car now as he's changed jobs, and this policy runs out on the 14th of May (day after my 20th birthday). I'm with directline now, who will allow me to use this 2 years against one of their policies as no claims, but wont give me a certificate to say that i've had zero claims as a main driver :\ not a massive issue for my car, but they wont insure me until 21+ on any of the cars that i want to buy, where as every other insurer practically will.

Now, does anyone know of any companies that will accept proof that ive been a main driver for over 2 years and use that as discount? I imagine it's similar to company car no claims, as it's a main driver on a policy that isnt in their name?

Cheers,

Tom.

I did wonder how you managed to insure that car at 18...

i still couldve insured it no problem, just @ a higher cost :) but either way it was completely legit so there is no issues.

i was a named driver on one of there policies (different i think) wasnt accepted anywhere

i'm the MAIN driver though not just a named driver................implying that i drive the car most of the time, not just once in a blue moon

I was always under the impression Direct Lane didn't allow anyone but the policyholder to be the main driver, especially given you dont even live at the same address as the policyholder.

You'll find insuring with no NCB and mods declared to be very expensive. This is why being a named driver is stupid.

they used to allow it, and one the second year they renewed the old policy even though their criteria had changed, the guy i spoke to yesterday said it mustve slipped through the net as such....do you really want me to get it scanned? :p
