I just started playing this game as I randomly came across it on Metacritic with excellent user reviews: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/insurgency
And it's on sale right now for only 6.99. That's one decent lunch.
It is a lot of fun!!!! At first it looks like an average modern shooter on the source engine, but the gameplay is a lot more reminiscent of Red Orchestra II set in modern day.
The combat is quick, fast, loud and packs a punch in every shot. Death is near instant and it's in no way the twitch shooter of CounterStrike because you literally cannot aim without aiming down your sites.
Nor is it like CoD/BF because the gameplay is not run and gun.
It has some interesting concepts for load outs and gameplay modes. Things I have't seen the mainstream shooters do yet.
A lot of the players play with mics as well and its a great game for communication and teamwork. There's no minimap, no report of kills or deaths of friend or foe!! no spotting, none of that.
Makes for an intense and fun time. I bought it yesterday and as a CoD, BF, Arma, CS player, I really recommend trying it.
