Come the new year I'll be selling both my cars to purchase my new beast, problem being I'm not sure which I would like. For me it's a toss up between a Jap Integra DC2 or a 3.0 twin turbo supra, at a push I could wait later in the year and get a DC5.

I know some of you here drive these cars. Could I have your views please?
 
Why these two cars? One is a lardy, lazy, but very powerful and fast cruiser. The other is a high revving, thrashy precision instrument.

I cannot understand why you'd be deciding between the two becuase they are so different.

I know they are different in performance but my choice comes down to wanting a Jap sports car with the looks that I like. What I want to hear, from the owners of these vehicles, is how they find them to drive.
 
You will be finding they are different in every way. You need to drive both becuase I suspect you will love one and hate the other :)

The Teg needs a damn good thrashing to get the performance out of it. The Supra will just shift in any gear, at any speed.

The requirement is, power for little money, as you know jap sports cars check the box. The Prelude was good for the price but it wasn't nippy off the mark. I love the looks of the Supra but I'm guessing the Teg will be more fun to drive whilst the Supra will earn me points on my licence down the M1. What are your views?
 
The DC5 is a fair bit up on power on the lude (also depends which lude you drove). If you have the chance I'd get the DC5. Amazing handling drivers car, but that might not be what you want.

Cornering at crazy speeds, hard work but very rewarding driving = teg
Going really fast in a straight line, being lazy = supra
 
I have a DC5 and i think the drive is brilliant:DAlso i often get comments about it in petrol stations etc:cool:I have never driven a Supra before but some friends i know are forever complaining about the petrol costs to run the things! The DC5 on the other hand does require V Power but its very rewarding to drive, you have to really work the engine keeping the revs above 6k to get the true performance from them.

Oh on a full tank from a DC5 i can usually get 330 miles from a full tank with a mixture of slow/fast driving:eek::cool:
 
if you decide to go middle ground (I'm still tossing up between Supra, Integra and the following..) then maybe consider a Rev 3 + MK2 MR2 GT Turbo? Could very well be a happy medium, but i know the 'Teg or the Supra are what you're stating you're after.

I think thats a bit of a brash statement, and surely a cars' worth is solely based on what specific criteria an owner/potential owner requires and nothing more?

Which further reinforces what I said above - the cars are so different that surely their suitability, and therefore their 'worth', depends solely on the requirements of the potential owner?

Exactly, which is why I want opinions on them both so I can be helped in deciding what I really want from my next car

Well, to be honest, they are so different you'd need to drive them both.

The DC5 is the equivalent of a eurofighter and the Supra the equivalent of a AC-130 - both undisputably good at what they do, but that is pretty much the only thing they have in common aside for wheels, seats and a steering wheel!
 
Think of how slow your prelude is below VTEC driving around normally and then think about how much slower the integra is going to be (below VTEC)...

Let's be honest, how often do you use VTEC? I hardly ever use mine now!

At least a couple of times a day. Basically, every time I want to go quick, which is the beauty of the VTEC system.

I don't particularly want the fuel economy of an aggressive cam profile/turbo when I am commuting, unless I need it to make quick progress.
 
Dont forget that the supra will probably cost you more to repair/run with it being a turbo. I still fail to see how the supra is worth its money though, the DC5 can go just as fast/a few seconds slower than a Supra round a track
