Integrated battery care

Hi, I have an Asus gaming laptop (G751J) and it has an integrated (built in) battery.

I mostly use it on a desk but still need the facility for it to be portable and therefore want to take care of the battery.

I have been plugging it into power at 10% and removing the power when it was full. It now won't fully charge. It gets to "10 minutes until fully charged" and will not charge anymore - this is what prompted me to investigate.

What is the best way to take care of this battery? I damaged a battery on an old laptop by leaving it plugged in all the time.

Thanks in advance,
Ruthers.

How old was the laptop that old laptop you mention? How old is your current one?

Generally it's a good idea to use the battery from time to time to keep it working. If you always run the laptop from the mains, the battery will usually die over time anyway.

The saying "use it or lose it" is the point here. If you constantly use it (as it seems you are), then that just raises the number of cycles unnecessarily and will wear it out faster. You need to find the right balance.

My old laptop is 3-5 years old. My current one is 11 months old.

I use my current one roughly 8 hours a day.
What would your recommendation be? I would like to keep the battery as healthy as possible.

Thanks

When the battery is charged it will stop charging it. There is no real need to unplug unless you need to use on the battery which on a G751 should be hardly ever.. :-)
