Hey there,

This is probably a stupid question...but here goes anyways.

Is it possible to upgrade integrated graphics to a proper dedicated graphics card, without causing significant reduction in performance?

Basically im thinking of buying a new pc, and ive seen one with quad core cpu, but only has integrated gfx, and wondered if, if i bought this pc, would i be able to upgrade this.

Thanks

If it has a PCI-E slot, which it very likely does having a quad-core CPU, then you can upgrade it. I'd like to echo the above sentiments though, you'll have much more fun and probably actually save money if you built one.

more then true, im currently waitin to build my first custom pc and ive worked out im savin abit of cash too & it'll be handy in future as i'll know how to replace certain bits instead of buyin a full new computer every time

Study it hard & triple check everythin goes together and you'll be fine (hope i will be too lol)

A pre-built PC with integrated graphics will probably have a poor PSU which would need to be replaced to have a good graphics card
