Hi all,

Newbie so bear with me!

Is it possible to upgrade the graphics chip if it's integrated? I have a Samsung laptop RF511 (if that helps) with the following:

2.50 gigahertz Intel Core i5-2450M
32 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
3072 kilobyte tertiary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Hyper-threaded (4 total)
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family [Display adapter]

If this isn't enough or the wrong info please let me know and I'll post some more.

Thanks!

It's part of the cpu so only by upgrading the cpu to a higher intel cpu that uses the same socket and ideally also intended for laptops, i.e. mobile variant. The alternative would be to add a laptop graphics card beefier than the integrated graphics.

Your current cpu has intel hd3000 integrated graphics. To just upgrade this you'd need a better intel cpu with a higher version hd integrated graphics.

You could check whether you're using the latest driver which might offer some improvement.

Not sure if samsung keep maintaining possible upgrades on their website, might not have got the right model, some may not apply to your model as I think they use the same broad model number with different specs.

Another possibility is intel's site but these have a caveat that they may not be suitable for oem implementations, ultimately it's your decision to either take the risk in trying the most appropriate or checking with samsung support first with these.
