Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake thread

There is no need to clock ram on a NAS to begin with. Just run it at stock and it will be as safe as a Chinese internal security safe house.

If you dont know the answer that is fine :)

But does anyone else actually know why it's on earlier gen i3's but not this one?! My Google fu is failing me

There was no mention that this was a price comparison instead just comparing a 10 core cpu to a 12 core with the 12 core obviously winning. The same can be said when comparing an 8 core to a 10 core.
Now if an 8 core beat a 10 or 10 beat a 12 then that would be news.

That's not the whole story. 12 cores can't always beat 10 cores. If a 10 core cpu runs on a higher ghz than the 12 core cpu, like the 10900k is and has a higher price than the 12 core cpu than it is news.

Basically a 3900x is faster, cheaper, older and more efficient than the 10900k.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £825.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Jeepers, that's a pricey bundle there as a basic 10th gen setup. Doesn't include RAM either  Average MOBO (no idea on VRM cooling on the board, might not even be that great) and an average 240 AIO for cooling.

Probably need a better cooler as well if reports of 90c plus on a 240mm rad are true.

a 12 core AMD for £220 cheaper - You could technically run the CPU with the stock AMD cooler with it too and ditch the 360 aio to have a difference of £380 wow!

Use the stock CPU cooler and get yourself a 2070 GPU too for an extra £10 :D

Seems OCUK strapped a 30% price increase on the B450 Tomahawk Max.

Btw 3900X doesn't need watercooling. Even a well tuned one, a D15 is more than enough to make it boost to 4600 :D

Crikey if those leaked benches are true then... Intel...ohh flipping dear..
Their top model struggling against even the second best from AMDs near year old cpu's.

Intel are just cranking away at the voltage trying to get more speed out of their cores. Pretty pathetic to see that's all they have at this point because they were so secure on their throne a few years back.
