Hi

Looking for some advice. Upgrading a water cooling build. Current rig is over kill on water cooling. Currently has...
2 x 240 rads ( has 4 fans push)
1 x 360 rad (has 6 fans push pull)
1 x 560 rad (has 8 fans push pull)
2 x D5 pumps set low on a koolance dual pump res.

I'm not going for aesthetics.
I'm looking at a long over due upgrade and was thinking about going for the Intel 14900k.

Not sure what board yet. Although I've always bought Asus boards.

My question is after seeing various things on the net about this chip.

Q1. Are boards pretty much now with latest bios ready to accept this chip stable without much dialing in with adequate cooling?
Are the boards giving potential max performance without over doing it on voltage ?

Q2. Should my cooling be enough to tame this processor ?

Q3. Can anyone recommend an asus board (can be other brand if a good reason) that isn't a wallet killer?

Thanks

We don't know yet, the fixed microcode is not even due until August and it will be at least 3-6 months to confirm what changes have been made have any effect on longer-term degradation.

Yes, but they're going to be hot and power hungry whatever you do.

Why doesn't it put you off buying one? :o

The only way to tame a 14900 is to substantially reduce its power draw. Outside of using the CPU to push an overclocked RTX 3090ti/4090 there is little reason to go with a 14900k.

Z790 Pro TUF is a solid Asus board without getting into the Hero/Apex price category

Zen 5 releases in a week so I have to ask, why not consider that instead of gambling on a problematic, dead platform?
Having been under a rock and not keeping up. Didn't know about the amd release. Having researched the new amd chip line up and expected price point. I think your suggestion makes absolute sense.
I'll save my pennies till it's released.
