Only in Intel 7-series chipset, officially. 6-series users have to mod their BIOSes parts called OROM to replace Intel software RAID with newer (or newest) revision & install newest Intel RST software. Modifying in fact means simple BIOS FLASH procedure as there are many pre-modded BIOSes available in the internet for almost (?) all 6-series based mobos. There are also 5-series reports it's been done fine. Thing is nobody takes responsibility for ev. bricking the mobo, or for stability - except end user :=]

What's best the Intel 335 180Gb @ £133.99 or the Samsung 840 Pro 256Gb @ £144.18?

Definitely the samsung, it's bigger, faster and will remain faster for longer. I've got a 128gb Samsung 830 and it's pretty fast plus I've had 0 problems with it.
