Hi,

Does anybody know what the max refresh rate for an Intel 4690k?

I plan to buy a 144hz monitor tomorrow and a decent graphics card next month so was wondering if the built in graphics will handle more than the 60hz my monitor outputs now?

Matt

Your monitor does not output anything. 144hz means that your monitor can basically show 144FPS. On board graphics on a CPU will not produce much FPS. What are you going to be using the PC for while you are using on board graphics?

144Mhz just shows upto 144 FPS where a normal monitor will show 60FPS.
it will work fine with the on-board but you will not be gaming

I will just be using it for general browsing until next month. I know the monitor shows what my graphics puts out. So the hd4600 wont push out 144hz then?

The cpu will be able to set the display to 144hz ( if your motherboard has a good enough display connection and you use the right cable ) however the 144hz is not exactly useful without a good graphics card as you won't be playing anything above 30fps never mind 144

EDIT : What monitor are you planning to get ?

Yes it does.

output

noun
noun: output; plural noun: outputs

1.
the amount of something produced by a person, machine, or industry.
"output from the mine ceased in May"
synonyms: production, product, amount/quantity produced, yield, harvest, return, volume, gross national product, gross domestic product, out-turn, achievement, accomplishment, solutions; More

you'll be fine for 144hz on desktop for general purpose PC stuff via your motherboard outputs

But not for games until you get your GPU.
