INTEL 478 3GHz TEMPERATURE RISING

Can anyone help me? I have a problem with the temperature rising on the Intel P478 3GHz Bus 800. I have had this processor for 2 years and the temperature is going from 65 C going over 70 and reaching 80 C and in some cases I have had to shut down my system. I replaced the heatsink with a brand new fan and it is still doing the same. Even when you check the PC Health on the CMOS the temperature is still showing the same. I have updated the Motherboard BIOS and still nothing has changed. (Motherboard DFI Infinity 865pe)

Do you think the processor is on it's way out? In the past it has stayed under 65 C even though I had been on my system for 8 or 9hours.

Fortunately, I had a 2A GHz Intel Pentium which I bought before I upgraded to 3GHz. I have put my system back on the 2A and the temperature has gone right down to 41 C.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have 4Fans in my full tower. I have two in the front and two at the back.
So I think the ventilation is good.

I clean my system once a month with an air duster.

Thanks Gents for all your help. I've tried everything and nothing happened and I did use a good heatsink with a good fan. I think something is wrong with the processor because it doesn't happen when I put the 2GHz Northwood one back. I have sent an email to Intel to ask for their advice and hopefully I could get a replacement as there is 3 years warranty.

Just to let you know guys that I have been in touch with Intel in the UK and they are supposed to let me know within 75hours whether I can have a replacement, due to the 3 years guarantee.
