Intel 4965 wireless card & 802.11g router problem

am having a problem with my new M1530 with the Intel 4965 wireless card connecting to the internet through my 802.11g router . It can see the network and says its connected locally and to the internet but when I open IE it doesn't connect. Then it connects but then seems lose the connection and reconnects and lets me surf again then i lose it again?

If i have it set to G mode only or Auto it seems i only get 5.5mb it just seems to keep losing connection? Speeds goes from 54mbps down to 5.5 or even 2?

No laptop at all i can test with wireless other than this one.

no problem with it being plugged in get downloads of 1.68mb a second like that just like my pc upstairs thats on eathernet.

Soon as wireless connects i can't get over 90kb on downloads when it's connected.

Really getting frustrated here!

It keeps going up and down the speed from 54mbps it drops to just 2mbps

I'm running Xp on the laptop ( can't stand vista) Got my router in Aug last year ( sky)

just install the drivers (custom install) not any of the Intel software stuff. After a few restarts it is now behaving its self. It started off d/c'ing every 20mins or so, but now seems solid.

Ok i've installed the drivers for this and it's connected.

But it's still struggling to display web pages even though it says it's connected.

Starts off well but then it can't find them.

in my router set up i've auto108MBPS, G&b and also tried G only

Had it on G only and channel 1 and it shot up to 1mb downloads but then dropped to 200kb and the connection speed went down to 5.5mbps?

Ok i've done a fresh install and reinstalled everything. I've installed that drive you posted and things seem better though i'm still getting radom cut offs but it seems to reconnect right away.

Any more ideas to try and fix this?

i have just tried my laptop at a mates house who is using a bthome hub and i connected straight away with no problems and no drop outs.the prob must be my netgear router at home.does anyone have any suggestions what i can try next...firmware maybe???

Signal says excellent on it all the time.

Tried loads of drivers all weekend and still the same issue stands i'm sure the router must be faulty.

My mate that i tried my laptop on his homehub connected right away and stayed connected and was fast. I then try mine and it can't connect, it then does connect and it's slow and pages don't display.

Well fed up with all of this!

I don't have another router to try and sky somehow lock your passwords in there router.

It seems strange that my Laptop logged on to my mates internet right away with no set up at all.

Do i need to set up all the properties in my wireless network adapter? Like i would a lan ( ethernet card) ?

I've tried all 13 channels yesterday but with no luck at all still the same problem.

I do have a cordless phone in the room where my router is?

your helps been great so far and i've switched the phones off and have connected at 54/150 Mbps. So maybe that was a issue?

Some web pages are still a bit slow but i've heard thats sky's DNS.

Also switched the WII off as well. I'll leave it on downloading and surfing for abit while we eat dinner.

I can't switch off over from N card to G card settings in the driver and this has happened on all the drivers i've tried whihc seems wired.

I mention this to illustrate it is not necessarily your router that is at fault, it is just a particular router to wireless network adapter incompatibility issue that you have.

I am going to look further at what to try to get the Dell working wirelessly, I'll probably start another post. So far I've tried experimenting with changing the router to b only and g only, and switching off the encryption, but neither has worked.

I have mine on G only at the moment Channel 1
