intel 6300 or 6400

you can easily clocked the 6300 over the 6400 speed. Sometimes even reaching the stock speed of the X6800, of course this only happens if u have adequate cooling and the correct components ( mobo/ram )

Is it worth paying out for the 6400 chip or should I get the 6300 and have a go at clocking it to 6400 speeds???

since the e6400 has no extra cache its not really worth it - the e6300 can easily (99.99999% of the time) clock to x6800 speeds (assuming you have good ram/mobo

even if your not clocking you wont notice a performance differecne between the e6300 and e6400 tbh :) also if you get a e6300 you can get an oem - save alil bit of cash and get a nice after market cooler :)

A 6300 is all you need mate....don't waste your money on any other....just look in me sig. :D

depending on how far you want to clock and what your cooling will allow, the extra multiplier on the e6400 my be useful to you

So what you got then mate?

I have owned a 6600 and now a 6300....as long as you got the board and ram to go with a 6300 there is no need to waste money....you can just give it to me. :D

amd64 atm

getting a c2d shortly
likely to be a e6600 as I don't want the board to top out before the chip as I have phase cooling and am aiming for 4+ gig

6300 are great clockers thats for sure. What voltage do you run yours at mate? I'd like to know also what the max voltage too?

Well all i can say is go for it with that kind of cooling.....otherwise i would have advised to save your money as there are a few boards that are good for 500fsb+....i used to run my E6600 @ 7x500fsb only difference to my e6300 it needed 1.55v and cost twice the price....where as the 6300 does it 1.45v and is cheap. :D
