Hi if i decide to get a intel 6700k along with two 980ti HOF edition nvidia cards
will they bottle neck with the 6700k cpu if i want to game at 1440p or 4K?
upgrading from an i7-920.

Nope, should be fine. But personally id go for X99 with a 5820k. Better all round buy at present. Particularly the 5820k. 6 cores, cooler running, similar price.
 
5820k for sure. In general multi-core usage and when dx12 hits it should take advantage of the extra cores for gaming.

Both are of a similar price point and with a good cooler the 5820k still overclocks well and 4.5ghz+ shouldn't be an issue.
