Just a general enquiry really. I ordered lots of parts for a new pc build from overclockers. After putting the system together the bios screen would not display and the motherboard wouldn’t even make any beeps when a keyboard/mouse etc were not plugged in. 99% sure the motherboard is faulty so I requested an RMA from overclockers and was at first told to try replacing the memory into different slots and resetting the cmos. Did both of these and still nothing so again requested an RMA number. So I received a follow up email with an RMA number but also stating that all Intel 775 motherboards "MUST" be fitted with a socket protector before shipping or the warranty will be deemed void. Now there was no such protector fitted to the motherboard when I received it. So I am a little worried that I am going to get problems from overlclockers when I send this back.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 If anyone has a screenshot of what this so called power protector looks like just incase im being incredible stupid and it has came with one. It would be greatly appreciated. Also has anyone had a problem like this before with the Socket 775 Intel boards?

Sorry for the essay :D

The socket protector basically fits where the cpu does. You have to open the catch and remove it as you would a cpu.

Thx guys I know exactly what it is now. My mate left it in the same bag as the CPU so I didnt click it was actually for the motherboard.

Problem solved :D
