Hello, recived my new pc last week and finished building it on friday everning, where i left it running all night so i could have an accurate idle temp, when i woke up in the morning it was idleing around 27-30c, then over the weekend the idle temp jumped upto 50c, could this been because of the hot weather we had over the weekend or have i done somthing silly, my specs are as follow

CPU: 930 with an XP-120 and a 120mm 1400RPM fan
MOBO: P5LD2-VM
RAM: OCZ platinum PC6400 2GB kit
PSU: OCZ mod stream 450Watt
GFX: Saphire x1900xt
CASE: x q-pack with a 120mm exaust fan

I think thats normal for those cpu's, they tend to run quite hot. Probably not helped by hot weather and a small case.

Why is it idle? It should be folding.

Yer it will be folding once i finish setting it up, just worrying about heat atm, when i get home from work ill be setting up folding@home.
Hopfully as its been raining today the air will be cooler and my pc will be happy again :)

Cheers... ;)
The worst thing is, i have to sit here and attempt to revise in this 30 degree heat, and as soon as my exams are over it will rain for the rest of the holiday most likely... ahh well i can always raise my clocks to keep me warm :p

I had a similar problem last summer when my PC temps seemed to shoot up by quite a bit. I had to lower my CPU voltage as I had been overclocking. If you have poor ventilation/cooling in your PC, the problem is going to be magnified in the hot summer weather.

My 805 @ 3.7ghz with an arctic freezer 7 pro is currently 47 c while folding so that does seem fairly high. Try reseating it.
