Intel 980x

Hi,

I have a Rampage 3 on order with OC which I was planning on putting my 920 into but now debating ordering the 980x and using the 920 to upgrade our other PC.

Just wondering if it's worth the upgrade from the 920 to the 980x, having a look around I've found the 980x is cheaper by about £60 elsewhere which is a shame as I'd rather have ordered it from OC if I was to go ahead with the upgrade.

I use my system solely for gaming, most of which probably would not benefit for the upgrade.

Unless your video encoding, crunching or similar then it would be a pointless upgrade for gaming.

Yeah, not worth it for gaming. Bear in mind not all games even use four cores yet.

If you just use it for gaming then the 980x with be a massive waste of money.

Few games use 4 cores as it is.

Peeking at the 980x OC thread it would appear they dont clock any higher than a 920/930. So unless you can match your 920 clock, it may well end up slower in games.

Most people get thease 980X to 4.5Ghz on Air with just Vcore and multi change..
