hi,

ive got a minitx rig coming with the new atom 1.6ghz chip in it and i was wondering what kind of performance i can expect?

can it be compared to any desktop chips?

will be used as a seed / un-rar'ing box with the storage being in my main pc.

Thanks for any info

I've got one in my Eee and it isn''t great. It browses the web fine, and boots really fast (although I assume that that is due to the SSD). However, Windows XP seems a touch sluggish. Once you have a program open it works absolutely fine, but don't expect it to fly round Windows.

probably worse than a 2.0 P3 ?

it performs worse than the mob Celeron 900mhz, in the eee pc 900.

Its a bit like a G-wizzz, its "green" and will save you money.

But quick it is not.

Should be good for a ultra small build.

Should be ok for a download box,

web browsing, file transfers, divx and office apps it will be fine for - just dont expect to play crysis hehe :)

but im getting my msi wind soon which has one in it so I'll be able to comment better then :)

Does just about everything but HD playback (perhaps a videocard with hardware decoding would help?) and current games. It does have hyperthreading and is quite nippy on the whole. I think someone compared it to a 4w peak-consuming P3-1.3Ghz once.
