Hey guys,

currently running an asus p5w dh, but looking for a change,

I was thinking the BAD AXE 2, but are there any better boards out there?

I do like the idea of just going intel,

So whats the cream of the crop?

Will be running it with my 6400 which clock to 3.3ghz on the above with no issues. And 4gb of G-skill 6400HZ

So guessing that rules out the 680 based boards.

Looking for ideas really.

Cheers

Hey Vekiq

That was my thinking also, i am fed up with the p5w dh and its raid quirks lol.

The p5w is a good clocking board, but it to me just seems soo unfinished.

I will be running with,

Conroe 6300, 4gb G-Skill 6400 hz. Gainward 8800gts, 2 x74gb raptors in raid 0 and 2x250gb Maxtors in raid 0 for fast storage (will be backed up)

So should be a nice fast system.

Cheers

well i have gone with the bad axe 2, i know intel support is very good, and they generally support a mobo for its full life cycle, not relase a few bios then forget about it.

I have had bad experiances with a couple of abit boards in the past, albeit a long time back, but refuse to consider them now.

still having fun and games sorting one out,

plenty of places have them, but im ordering a gainward 8800gts to go with it also and want it tomorrow at the latest, i hate internet shopping so may cancel my order else where and drive upto ocuk tomorrow even if it is £20 more

Gibbo sort me out mate!! :D

well got mine all setup,

doesnt clock quite as well as the p5w got it at 400mhz fsb stable and tested over night.

my 6400 2.13 is running at 3.20 so not a bad clock.

Pain in the ass to over clock, but i am sure i will get more out of it.

Could well be my psu i guess, as i had to use the 4 to 8 pin convertor :(

Anetc 480 watter, running 2x 74gb raptors, 2 x 250gb maxtors, 1 x benq 1640 dvd-writer, 4gb ram 1 x 8800gts and the boad and cpu clocked lol.

Seems fine at 3.2ghz though.
