So is this something brought about buy Intel and IBM together, or have they both acheived the same thing?

IBM is partnered with AMD it says so both companies will have the technology

imagine quad core + this!

This is more along the lines of octacore and deca-hexacore design. Intel have already shown that quad core can already be done on a 65nm fab process, so why stick to four cores?

The industry is rapidly approaching a point where things are about to get a helluva lot more complicated...

oooo sounds like another reason to wait before upgrading, grrr my 3200+ winny is showing its ages now tho and im starting to get the itch for more power

It said "Next Generation Quad Core In Production 2H '07" in one of the slide show picture, when exactly is 2H '07 ?

Just worked out 2H '07 = 2nd Half 2007

Not sure I can wait that long before an upgrade
