hi there i am i the market for a new laptop and was wondering which is the better processor out of the centrino duo and core 2 duo. ive heard the centrino chips actually use the core 2 duo processor but with added benefits. is this right. so which is better ???

same processor, the "centrino" monkier is because the laptop uses a intel chipset/wlan card iirc and either a PM (for centrino) or a CD/C2D (for centrino duo)

my t60 has a centrino duo sticker on it.

Centrino is not actually a processor iirc (correct me if i'm wrong) Centrino is intel's version of wireless technology, and Centrino duo laptops are just basically dual core laptops (with core 2 duo processors) and Intel centrino mobile technology (i.e. intel's wireless technology) :)

Centrino duo is not actually a CPU, it is Intel's Wireless Technology, the duo after the name centrino indicates that, it has a core2duo processor to accompany the wireless technology on the laptop :)

You have:

Centrino:

These are PentiumM CPU's

Centrino Duo:

Basically Core CPU's. However Core1 not Core2, cpu's are lablled T2xxx I think.

ViiV or Centrino Core 2 Duo:

Core 2 Mobiles, basically the same as Conroes, labelled T5xxx or T7xxx
