Hi Guys

Im upgrading at the end of the month! Payday hoorray!!!! Anyway can I have your thoughts please?

I have 2 choices of cpu as they are roughly priced the same.

I'm looking at either the Core 2 Duo E4300 2MB Cache or the AMD X2 Dual Core 5200 2x1mb cache. Which do you think I would get better performance out of? I plan on starting to play games again, whilst also dual booting linux, xp and vista.

Any thoughts or comments from experience would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Andy

The AMD is quite a faster at stock. Though if your going to be overclocking then get the Intel CPU as it will overclock to the AMD 5200 speeds and beyond.

4300 without doubt.

Clock it to within an inch of its life.

cheaper still is the 2160 at 50 quid I have been running one @ 3.6ghz for the last couple of months.

As said, if overclocking, grab the intel. If not, go AMD.

I'm currently AMD and am switching to Intel as soon as funds allow! I'm getting the 4300!

On air?

they go pretty high on air
the e2160 and e2140 are widely advised to be wastes of time watercooling as they clock so well on air.
All for £50 its a no brainer.
