Hi There folks
I`m looking at buying the above cpu from o/cers.
What i would like help with is

I currently have a reasonable agp graphics card 7800gs,ide drives 1gb of ddr400 ram
First of all i`m looking for a m/b which will support the above cpu,my agp graphics card and at least 2 ide drives.

I currently have a p4 3.2gig prescott, will my upgrade to a e2140 be worth it with my current rig setup,i`ve read that the e2140 is a good overclocker.

Thanks

Steve

Looking at the board i see 2 IDE ports. However i'd rather an Intel chipset board such as this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-003-AK&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=205 , only one IDE port (2 devices) though.

He needs to retain his DDR and AGP equipment though. :(

Your only options really are the Asrock Dual 775 VSTA or the 4 Core VSTA as shown above. There's also an Intel 865G based board called the Asrock 775i65G if I recall. The Rev 2.0 of it supports Core 2 Duo but I'm not sure if it'll recognise the Pentium E21xx's unless a BIOS update has been released.

ASRock 775i65GV for mATX or ASRock Conroe865PE for full ATX. Both are good matches for 200MHz Core2Duos as they max out at 300FSB, but that's still plenty to get you to 2.7GHz.

Yup got a 4Core Dual VSTA, Its been a trusty board since I had it I upgraded from 1gb ddr1 to 1gb ddr2 and a 7600GT AGP to 8600GT PCI-E.

Its been a good motherboard, no problems.

Its not a great overclocker tho, Managed to get it to 295 FSB, but Been told that 300 is possible.

Thanks for all your help and advice
One last question will the Intel core 2 duo E2140 work with this board Asrock S775 Intel 865G MATX A L G,some sites are saying it supports the c2d,others are saying not

Thanks
Steve
