This may be a stupid question, but I'm out of options. I recently purchased this processor and found it to be running a little hot. I put this down to incorrect placement on the fan.

Anyway, I'm having trouble removing it, I unlocked the pins, but the pins have all clicked down and force doesn't seem to bring them back up. Any suggestions, it's a real pain?

These plastic pins on the Intel chips really are awful. They are a terrible design, flimsy and a right pain in the backside to fit.

If you have to take your motherboard out anyway buy an after market cooler with a backplate and fit it while its out. My Noctua is so easy to take on and off now.

Yeah I did turn them and pull, but they don't see to give, had to stop pulling cause it felt like I was on the verge of breaking the motherboard.

I'll try removing the montherboard and removing it from the back.

The intel stock cooler isn't difficult to fit.

You just line up the holes and push, how hard is that?

I agree the design isn't the best however for a fit and forget design for mainstream use it is quite good.
