Yes you have missed something.

The E6x50 chips are new 1333mhz FSB CPUs. New stepping aswell G0.

They are only campatible with P35 and 680i boards. And some older boards but im not sure you will have to look at the manufactures wesbite for confirmation and BIOS updates so the CPU can run etc.


They have basically been brought in to phase out the other CPUs like the E6600 and E6700 for example.

There is probaiblly just excess stock of them CPUs thats why they are stil about but the price can probabilly not go any lower because they would probaiblly lose money if they started to sell them cheaper than the E6750.

The E6x50 CPUs where brought in on the 22nd July.

Basically just buy the E6750 is the motherboard you plan to buy is compatible with it.

Since you're buying a new board too not reason not to get the cheaper E6750 and a P35 board. Cheaper and quicker.
