This table (produced by me) shows the G0 stepping CPUs that will be available in July (hopefully from OCUK):-

(everything compared at stock speeds with current OCUK prices where possible and assumes every core is used)

The Q6600 destroys everything on price/performance...
(the MHz per £ is a crude method (doesn't take FSB and other factors into account), but reasonably accurate as the processors are all from the same family)

If only G0 Q6600's could be ordered at OCUK.. I assume we only get them when the B3 stock runs out. :(

Quad core for £200, that's insane.

it should bee cheaper than this, since intel priced it the same as e6600 was before the coming price drops.. it should be £150+ not £200 but greedy online shops, nothing you can do about it.

In batches of 1000, the E6850 and the Q6600 are both $266 USD (post 22nd July price drop). OCUK already has the E6850 on pre order at £199.74, so it's resonable to assume that the price of the Q6600 will drop to around ~£199.74 (from the current £234.99).

E6850 will be lower than what it is at the moment. It can be found on other shops for £180 ish so the Q6600 should be the same price.

In batches of 1000, the E6600 is also $266 USD at current price level, why why is e6600 not £190 then??

no i don't understand why ppl keep missing the point. It does not matter what batch costs, its at what price level intel decided to drop the price to and introduce the new model at.

so intel said that the q6600 will come down to e6600 current price level, that is very evident to everyone. So by logic it should be priced around £150-160 nothing more to argue.

if the e6600 was £190 then ok it shuld be priced at £190 and so on.

The E6600 is $224, not $266:-

Of course it matters what the batch costs, the OEM & Retail processors don't get released any other way. Intel set the batch price level, then you have distribution costs, marketing, profit, VAT etc etc added on by retailers.

Where? The E6600 is $224 and the Q6600 will be $266.

My estimate of £199 for the Q6600 is based on OCUK's pre order pricing of the E6850. It costs the same (from Intel) as the Q6600 (post price cut), going through the same distribution channels, having the same levels of markup/profit applied, then VAT etc, so I consider it to be a valid estimate right now.

The pre-order pricing will drop a little on release, but i think it's unrealistic to expect a drop of £70-£80, considering they were already cut a massive amount in June (by OCUK).

Here is an easier way of looking at the prices.

QX6700 = price of the Q6600 before it dropped in price.

Q6600 & E6850 = To be same price of the E6600 basically a few quid more though.

E6750 = Same price as the E6420.

E6550 = Same price as the E6320.

But because they are new chips the prices of them will probabilly be £10 or something more than the respective chips they are taking over from in that price bracket. Prices of the E6600 and E6320 have probabilly dropped £10 or so since the last price drop.

Well I've been quoted £124 + VAT for the Q6600 from Friday 20th. So there's an end to your argument.

I have no idea what OCUK pricing will be but it's gonna be the same as this or maybe £5-15 more due to higher margins etc. Basically it's gonna sell like hot cakes, I'm betting Gibbo has 1k of these in the back of the warehouse somewehre waiting to be snapped up. :p

What matters more to me is how these will run overclocked which clocks they achieve stably and what sort of temperatures.
I have heard the q6600 runs hot at stock never mind clocked.
It's getting too much now all these new chips no doubt the 6850 will be out dated in 1/1/2 months.

£124 seems a little too cheap, I'll believe that when I see it. Not that I wouldn't love it mind.

They're just what we're looking for for our gameserver hardware.
