Hey guys,

Just fitted in my quad core today and checking the temps - Asus probe is giving me about 50C for the processor on idle and 49 for the mobo.. is this a bit high? The room is a bit stuffy/warm, but I don't remember getting temps this high for my AMD X2.

Thanks,

Sul

Just installed speedfan and core temps are around 40 - 45C

How much will the temps go down as the thermal paste settles? Just installed it today.. read somewhere temps are meant to go down as the paste settles.

I'm using the Noctua NH-U12F cooler with arctic silver paste. Not overclocked at the moment, just running at stock speeds.

LOL and that doesn't even use more than 2 cores at anywhere near full load.

Need to sort cooling tbh asap.

FSX supports 4 cores now, after SP1.

Lappage!

You need to lap them! :D

4tw!

What temperature differences are you reporting before/after lapping? I'm considering it, but I need to know it's worth the effort!

hmm.. I'll run FSX again and see how my cores are being used. I'm pretty sure the activity levels were spiked up on all 4 cores. Will check again and get back to you..

Just reseated my CPU/heatsink and it's now idling at 40C and doesn't go over 50C under load (according to speedfan and pc probe)
