Hey Guys,

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Please can you suggest:

a) best motherboard
b) best RAM
c) best GPU

for this processor...

I'd also like to overclock...

Ive been out of the scene lately so am unaware of whats compatible etc etc

I'd need the pc for gaming, video editing, and photoshopping :)

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Well for Under £500, you can get this:

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit
Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Total : £498.09

If you wanted 4GB thats what it would come to, though you would need a 64bit 0/S.

If not then just get 2GB Of Memory, either this stuff:

CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit

Total : £424.07

Or go for the Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit:

Total : £398.22

of the top of my head, look into a P5N32 board, 2gig of some ocz of gskill 800mhz and a 640mb 8800 GTS

How much is all that coming too?

The Antect Case, personally i wouldn't go for it. a lot of money for what it is.

Something like this would offer slightly better cooling and build quality is so much better than the Antec case.

The Soundcard, Dvd drive, and CPU Cooler will be fine.

Any reason you went for 2 different hard Drives? I would recommend this one:

The GTX is proablly a bit of a overkill at the res that you are playing at to be honest, you could drop it down to a GTS.

I would defiantly get one of the newer chipset boards the P35 series, they are fantastic boards and you really cant fault them:

And the Memory is fine.

Antec-900 for me is the best at cooling for its price range, the Lian-Li PC7 is just of better build quality as its made out of Aluminium rather than thick plastic.

I agree with trueblue about the antec 900, I have one and the airflow through the case is excellent, due to the 2 x 12cm intakes and the huge 20 cm and 12 cm exhaust fans. I am also a fan of shiny blue LEDs  It is a bit noisy though I admit so that might put you off if you are looking for it to be as quiet as possible.

Which spec my friend?

I would personally go for the Noctua HSF, have heard a number of reviews about it and they have all been good.

I would change the DVD Drive to a SATA version. I would also change the board to one of the newer P35 Chipsets:

Something Like This

And go for this PSU:

Other than that, looks good.
