I've seen the Intel Core 2 Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz at ocuk, and I could be completely/embarassingly wrong, but is that 4 cores running at 2.66ghz?

If so thats crazy speeds... how does that not melt?

yeh, i've gpt one of these CPU's and it does get pretty hot. Cooling it with a zalman cnps9700 and usually its 45 degs on idle and 53 on load.

Q6700 3.45Ghz 314*11 1.45v Thermalright Ultra 120 with 1600 Scythe fan. 23c idle, 46c dual prime (core temps 55-61c). Switched from a Ninja B with 1200rpm fan - I was getting core temps of 80c

I did some HDV encoding on it yesterday, it ground my E6600 @ 3.5Ghz into the dust. :D

I've got one and its amazing what I can do with it.

Was running 3 virtual machines, playing music with itunes and had around 10 browser tabs open and I could still play CSS Zombie without slowdown. A lot of that probably has to do with the amount of RAM I have too though....

Played with a few of them some time back when i made a few super rig's, they were so fast!:eek:

heres a reason to have quad cores

quad cores are the king in this game

thx good link was looking for a more detailed review on quad core vs single/dual core in SC game ;)

The one thing they failed to mention is that when the going gets really tuff as in 4-5 bases attacking with perhaps 300 vs 800 units on screen the quad core and 2nd/3rd/4th cores will kick into action.... and will result in a smoother gameplay. Thats whats been said on other forums that have checked more into the benchmarking of SC game.

So on the Real face u may only see 5-10 fps speed difference with dual core or quad core, but its only when theres a lot of AI/action on screen it will kick in and be playable rather then on a dual core which will struggle a little...

Still good to see 2007 is the year of multicore gaming and im ready at least with my Q6600 ;)

thats not that hot at all. wonder how it would do with a better cooler like thermalright ultra 120 or tuniq tower#?
