Just specing the next batch of laptops for staff at where i work, and were undicided,

We have been offered Core 2 Duos and Core Duos.

But we can't work out the differnace,

Can anyone please help us, and give us a idea on what is better value for money, they will need to last for up to 3 years, and prob be able to take vista sometime next year.

Cheers

Warren

Core Duos are dual core 32bit CPU's, Core 2 Duos are dual core 64bit CPU's. Best to go for the Core 2 Duo laptops as they are more future proof and there isnt much of a price different between the two either.

£200 quid at the same speed :S

atm we havn't got any plans of 64bit.

Seems a bit steep if the CPU is only thing that's different, are you sure there isn't more RAM or even a bigger hard disk included for the 200 extra notes?

nope, we are a school, and we've asked and nothing we can see it differant,

we made the desision - the core duo the core2s were'nt worth the extra

got about 20-100 6600 based comps commign though :D
