Intel Core i5-11400 “Rocket Lake-S” CPU is 34% faster than predecessor in single-core benchmark

Err, let's take a look at the performance results.
The six-core Rocket Lake is still slower than Vermeer Zen 3 six-core.

So, what exactly should we look at?

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6C/12T @ 4.6 GHz 1606 8102
Intel Core i5-11600K 6C/12T @ 4.9 GHz 1565 6220
Intel Core i5-11500 6C/12T @ 4.6 GHz 1563 7349
Intel Core i5-11400 6C/12T @ 4.4 GHz 1495 6620

Where to start. You seem to be threatened by this news, why? Competition is good for all of us.

Lets take a a look at the facts:

1. 11400K running with crippled 2100 Memory. 5600X you compare it to probably running 3600Mhz memory, not a fair comparison
2. Price. 5600x = £349..... 10400k = £150. Lets be crazy and say the 11400k will increase prices by £50 to £200, it's still MUCH better value than the paper lunched Zen3 chip
3. AVX-512 - bonus feature on the Intel part, which will no doubt do well going forwards are more developers are paid/encouraged to use it.

I am afraid it won't be enough for Intel - AMD can decrease its pricing.
Intel should more aggressively step up and offer an eight-core as Core i5. Or a six-core as Core i3.

AMD can't produce enough to meet demand now - they have little to no scope to reduce pricing.

Read up on supply & demand, if there's not enough supply and demand is high, prices increase.

Also, TSMC increased their prices recently, forcing AMD to pay more per wafer. This will already affect their margins.

10400K is one of the best selling CPU's these days for a reason - plentiful supply, cheap (£150!) and stable.
