Intel Core i5-2500K Or Intel Core i7-2600K

I need so help please

I am looking to buy the below cpu but not sure what to go for

Intel Core i5-2500K Or Intel Core i7-2600K

Using photoshop CS & photoshop 9 also a little gaming ie call of duty & quake

i7-2600K's main benefit is HyperThreading but games usually benefit little from this so the i5-2500K is considered much better bang-for-buck for gamers. As for Photoshop, well CS4 hardly benefits at all from HyperThreading in benchmarks so older versions 9 & CS won't see any difference.

I assume you'll be overclocking by the way?

Yes will be overclocking but not straight away as i am new to all this and would get someone to do for for me and learn

im in the exact same position and went for the 2500k, the way i see it, there are hardly any applications that are designed for 4 threads, let alone 8

Personally I don't think that the cost/performance ratio allows for anything more than a 2500K, but feel free to disagree.
