A little underwhelmed..... at the prices listed they would have to be very fast, wait and see the reviews I guess.

What's everyone thinking?

UPDATE: Reviews read, Anandtech review is (as always) very well written and thorough, now I have started to feel the love for Lynnfield, i5 especially. Unless AMD drop their prices it's Lynnfield all the way for me.

I'm with Chippy here, I think the combination of the chip and main board is much. Well, for me it is, I just hope there is some price settling to do in a few weeks.
I'm just interested now to see how the i5 stacks up to the PhenomII in the reviews.

I expected far far cheaper it's supposed to be a budget platform ? nobody's getting my money then this is way overpriced just like corei7 still is.

Budget ? I think they actually call it mid range, besides I thought like you it would be cheaper, but then after reading the reviews I can see why the price is set as it is. I reckon in a month or so the price will settle down and AMD will probably have to respond in some way. Either way, for all of us the options just got better, Lynnfield too much for you ? go AMD, which on the back of the Lynnfield launch will hopefully be cheaper, win win.

I got one of the MSI boards at £63, not planning on selling it later, I'm planning on sticking a i5 750 in it and hopefully a nice shiny new ATI 58xx.....

From the reviews the picture is a little confusing, trouble is the reviews talk about $100 motherboards and sub $200 chips. Looking at shops here in blighty the motherboards are way higher priced than that and this confuses the decision. Looking at our pricing, as it currently stands, D D Danneh's right, i5 750 on 1156 to keep the cost down or jump to the 920 on 1366 for the extra mem bandwidth, future upgrade path and HT.

Is anyone bored of the Lynnfield launch yet ? I feel I am ready to move on... what we need is a graphics card launch or something to get the pulses racing again :D

I was firmly in the AMD phenomII camp, had a 955BE + 790X nainboard in the basket for a few weeks. Its cost/ performance ratio was unmatched by Intel and would have been more the capable in high end gaming etc. When the Lynnfield platform came along yesterday, at first I thought the cost was to high and I would be sticking AMD. However, when the MSi 55% promo showed up I was lucky enough to lift a GD65 for £63, this has turned things on their head cos now my i5 build will end up being cheaper than my planned Phenom II with the added advantage of being slightly more powerful.
