Did I hear recently that this processor had been superseded by another recently ?

If so what is the difference and is it the same socket ?. Looking to upgrade soon...

Different socket, you will need a new motherboard

12 cores 20 threads ??..... brings back memories of Intels Celeron line of part working processors.
