Looking for a new cooler as old one is very dusty and very noisy still. Have managed to unclip the fan of the cooler, to keep it some sort of clean, but thing that annoys me so much with these socket 775s. Trying to push the clips through board and turn them and sometimes breaking the plastic clips off end of them, I can get 3 on, but 4th just no good. Really poor.

Unless they got something like my new i5 2500k, where im using a noctua d14, and its clips with a bracket through the back of the board at least it would stay on.

if you are after a cooler that has a bottom mounting plate underneath the mobo and you screw down the cooler

Mickyflinn's Gaia also has a bottom mounting plate

what is your budget?

Gaia meaning this one?

Around £25-30, keeping it as its my old pc just for watching videos and music, not for games or anything demanding like that. Just old fan which is 5yrs old is very noisy when under load.

Got Loki one finally installed.

What a bugger that was, not fact I had to take board, out fact it said fitting the side fan on before putting on the cpu, and then finding it hard to screw it down with psu in way...

But all working, and now very quiet, which is what i wanted to replace the noisy one :)

depends on ambient (room temp), load temps are what we need to see.
what are you using to check temps?
try either coretemp or realtemp.
download & and do a run of prime95 or intel burn test for 20 mins.
see what the max temp is
