Is there a current chipset / motherboard for Sandy Bridge CPUs which will be compatible with Sandy Bridge E CPUs?

Ideally I would like to buy a low end CPU now (i3 I guess) and then upgrade when Sandy Bridge E is released, rather than splurging on a 2500k / 2600k now.

Thanks :)

think the SB-E chips are going to be skt 2011 so no current ones.

someone will probably correct me though.

i think its ivy bridge that is coming out in skt 1155 and skt 2011 forms.

So there could possibly be an upgrade path to Ivy Bridge on socket 1155? That would be even better. Is this possible on any current motherboards?

from my understanding, yes, a lot of skt 1155 mobos will support IB (maybe with a bios update or maybe straight out the box). until the chip is out i would like to say 100% but there is no reason why it wouldnt. but obvs, current gen mobos will not be able to utilise the PCI-e 3.0 features.
