hi,
i have recently acquired a core i3-530 and am using the intel cooler.
the mobo is a gigabye GA-H55M-UD2H, intel 1156 socket.
my cpu fan is bearable at idle (900rpm), but seems to flare up to 1400rpm quite a lot, which is pretty audible. i've been monitoring the cpu temps and the fan spins up to 1400rpm, as soon as the cpu hits 40c. at idle its about 33-35c.
i was wondering, if i buy a new fan, whether this will be quieter. my reasoning is that after market fans have bigger blades and can push more air at lower speeds and can perhaps remain at 900rpm constantly and thus remain pretty quiet.
is my reasoning correct and would it be possible to direct me towards a cheapish fan? (pls note i don't game, so i'm not pushing this cpu)
the cooler also needs to have the same pin attachment system as the original intel fan. (i'm using a small htpc case).
looking forward to your suggestions.
p.s. budget as little as possible, £16 or €20 is the max. i'm willing to pay.
