Ok now that the new stuff is all out (excluding Ti versions and bits like that)

What do you guys think would be best for a build. I was initially thinking AMD CPU and Niv Card but the benchmarks that ive seen, seem to be intel niv or amd amd work better than amd niv. Whats everyone's thoughts on this?

Intel is pretty much "pricing badly" for bad upgradability.
(prices never lowering on older models)
Or in case of wanting high end built just can't give lots of cores.

And Nvidia pretty much lied with their RTX3000 price advertisement.
Prices told at release would have been good...
But those were intended only for smokescreen and amount of memory isn't really any next-gen level.
It's actually same or less than new Xbox has for GPU.

so seems like AMD is the way to go, ive spent some more time looking into it since writing this and for 1080P which is what i will be using, its got plenty of power.

thanks for the reply :D

At the moment with the situation as it is, you are probably best off getting whatever you can at the moment re GPU (6800XT or 3080) and the new Ryzen CPU (5900x or 5950x) if you can find one (depending on budget as to which CPU, maybe even 5600x etc) assuming you need it soon. More likely you are going to have to wait until next year to get the optimum setup, which is probably AMD CPU and GPU - unless you are very keen on Raytracing.

I have the 5950X with a 3080 (or at least I will when I fix my bloody build), but I picked the 3080 up before the new AMD GPUs were released. I am still happy with my choice, but the advantage of 3080 over the AMD GPUs is supposedly raytracing - in my opinion Raytracing is not worth the performance costs even on the 3080. Aside from that they seem to be pretty equal, with the AMD slightly ahead in a few more games perhaps. There is the 6900XT to consider too, but I expect there will be a similar story there, outperforms the 3080 by say 10-15% but still lags behind in raytracing - and of course costs more.
