Just a general enquiry really, sorta fueled by an argument with the guy that thinks that he knows it all at work, but basically are all intel current generation CPU's 64 bit ?

He seems to think that they are all 32 bit, if there any that are then can you tell me which ones so I can go nuke him from orbit with the right info ??

well technically speaking I think he's actually right, iirc the current "64bit" chips are 32bit with some additional tweaks to allow additional memory access, I've also got it stuck in my head something about the a64 (and intel chips excluding itanium) being 48bit.

But for ease most people say c2d, a64 etc are 64 bit. True 64 bit is Intel Itanium which uses different code instructions
