Where are Intel going with their next range of CPU's/chipsets?

If I buy an i5 and something like a GA-P55--UD4 board, can I look forward to upgrading my CPU in 12 months time?

cant believe they are changing socket AGAIN. Only bought this PC in january! Where is the info of this socket change?

intel churn out sockets because its a good cow they can milk, same as all the i3 , i5 , i7 BS they just want to confuse noob consumers with stupid marketing names like nvidia

1366 seems the most certain to stick around, don't no about the lower sockets though.

Sandy bridge on Socket 1155 is coming Q1 2011, Sandy bridge on S1366?? coming Q3 2011, most sources seem to think that will be a new socket aswell, but no hard facts yet.

And to think i was planning on building a 1366 rig later this year, might aswell stick with my S775 for another year lol.

Argh, I was hoping to save some money and buy an I3 or an I5 in the summer after my exams. I am probably way off the mark but dropping 1 pin seems so stupid and obviously a money spinner.

It is unlikley they would create a new socket for the sake of it as it does not make sense, I wouldn't say it was a money spinner people that build and upgrade thier own computers is such a small percentage of the market.

even if it was the same socket, if they're migrating more features from chipset to on-die then it wouldnt b compatible.

they may change socket to stop people putting the wrong chip in the wrong socket and blowing things up.
