I just received new motherboard today, 'Intel Desktop Board DX58SO' and with a new Intel Extreme Edition i7-975 cpu processor. I am now waiting for a new tower case 'Corsair Obsidian 800D Full Tower Case with Black' with a new Corsair H50 High-Performance CPU Watercooler. I look forward to this new top of the range pc and when it all done, I am selling my i7 920 D0 with Gigabyte GAEX58-UD5 with Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case in Black for around £500 on ebay.

there is nothing wrong with it, i don't need many pc's in my house. i just wanna to kept my new top range pc and selling the i7 920 d0 because the i7 975 will be even better and should be great performance. i can't wait to use it with windows ultimate 7 RTM or windows professional 7 RTM (both in 64 bit) when the new case/h50 arrive. I got Samsung SSD 2 x 60Gb (might do it in RAID0)

Dont think you will get £500 for that lot :S

Oh someone will be buying £500 for everything on i7 920 d0 with 4.2Ghz overclocked with H50, antec 1200 case, with 750W power supply with 12Gb of ram with two hdd's of 1TB each in raid0 (windows xp x64 sp3 and vista 64 bit sp2) with geforce gtx260 on ebay.

Probally clock the same, if your lucky maybe an extra 100 or 200MHz for your extra £600 layout on the CPU.

The DX58 is pretty poor to be honest. It's really only a basic reference board and the code isn't as advanced as Asus or Gigabyte's offerings.

I also don't know why you've gone for a 975 when they are only useful under extreme cooling. You probably won't get much extra speed out of it, and even if the potential is there the DX58 isn't a great clocker. Not sure what you'll achieve from this rather strange upgrade.

I probably will kept my Gigabyte GAEX58-UD5 on hold until I test out Intel board. Thanks mate as I feel sad now cos you say the intel board isn't great for overclocking. :(

The DX58 was the first x58 board produced, manufactured by one of intels subsidiarys, it does not have half the BIOS options or overclocking capabilities of the Gigabyte, trust me.
Oh and it's only got 4 RAM slots, and inferior power distribution.

Sorry to break the bad news, but you should do your research before splashing cash. You might do ok with it, but it isn't a great choice for an enthusiast rig.

heard the i7 975 dont clock that well, some sites reporting the 920's clocking way higher

I only got my 950 because of the resale value in 2 years time and i got it just above the price of a 920 do
