intel dh57jg upgrade help

hello all

my parter has a intel dh57jg mother board, with an i5 cpu

not too bad a machine and does most of what she wants, the problem is she only has an nvidia 8800 gt, which is past its shelf life now, and well I am trying to upgrade it for her

I have tried an nvidia 295 and a 560ti and neither will work ( they light up etc but no post) and they both work in other pcs

I cant find much in the way of info anywhere, so thought id ask here if any body has an y experiences of them, or and advice how to get one working.

any advice woudl be apreciated.

I havent done yet, the only referenec to an updated bios, was a forum that somebody said upgrading it stopped his motherboard booting, he eventually got it back to previous bios though. was hoping somebody on here had experience of this particular baord before i go down that route, because you can gurantee i would be the one replacing it, if it goes t*ts up

mmm the last bios was 2011, and windows 7, she has windows 10 but the release notes state

 Fixed issue where some graphic cards cannot work with high
memory.

could be worth udpating to that version, but use the recovery method so we can go back ( hopefully) if it fails
