Anyone know if the Shuttle XPC SB81P supports Dual Core Presler's / Smithy's ?

Looking to build a Dual Core Intel shuttle. Dont really want to be paying £330 though.

Need the normal stuff but nothing fancy. Something thats looks good and supports Dual Core cpu's.

Thanks...

Afraid not no. The 915G chipset doesn't take pentium d's.

Think your best bet is to buy a Silverstone Sugo Case, a PSU and a matx motherboard with Intel 945G chipset. Perhaps if you could wait longer, you could even grab a motherboard on hte Intel 965G chipset which takes the new Core 2 Duo CPU's.

Looks like it will have to be a Shuttle XPC SB81P then. Found it a little cheaper somewhere else so it aint that bad.

Was just wanting to know apart from the top model, anything else supported Dual Core.

Build is going to get underway soon. Next 2 weeks. Cant wait for Conroe.

Shuttle do a xpc that takes the dual cores, my mates brother has one i belive

I will check on *** model number for you

But the SB81P has the i915G chipset. It's not supported. Only 945 chipsets upwards take Pentium D's.

You're either looking at the SD31P or getting a mATX Cube case + PSU + Mobo.

Silverstone Sugo Case - £90
PSU: ~£50
Motherboard: ~£60
Total is ~£200 and it'll take dual core, as well as having the luxury of being able to change the motherboard without having to replace the whole unit.

not really up to speed with intel but isnt core duo (P4 dual cores/pentium M's i think??) and core 2 duo (conroes etc) two different types of cpu, i.e. the SD31P suports core duo and the SD37P2 supports core 2 duo??

They are surely starting to price themselves out of the market.

Sugo + decent mATX setup costs less than that now, and it is a much more versatile platform on the whole.
